Hello from Papua New Guinea,
We are excited to share how God has been working in our lives over these last few months. You might remember that we have been serving in a support role while we look and pray for teammates. Well, God has answered that prayer. Just in the last couple of weeks we have begun talking with two units from Germany, a family and a single girl, about teaming up and moving into an unreached people group together. This is exciting! We are not officially a team, and we will soon begin talking through topics like doctrine, team strategy, and family in ministry with the hope of moving forward as a team. This process will take several months. Lord willing, the other family will move in November to where our family and the single girl are living. We are really looking forward to our potential team being all together to get to know each other better while we serve together and work to form our team and pray about where God will send us.
One Bible story that has been encouraging to us recently is in Judges 7 when Gideon is about to attack the Midianite army. God has whittled down his force to 300 men and just before the battle, Gideon is afraid. God, in His kindness, gives him a chance to be encouraged by sneaking into the enemy camp to listen to how they are feeling. The Midianites are terrified, because they suspect that God will give Gideon the victory. Before, Gideon could only see what God was doing on his side, but when he realized that God was working on the other side too it gave him courage to act. Over the past few months we have been allowed to see some neat things God has done as we simply walk with Him. In these last few months, there have been times we have wondered when and how God would bring together teammates and lead us into a people group. Now, as we are getting to know our potential teammates, we can see how God was working in their lives, “behind the scenes,” in ways we could not have seen to prepare both us and them.
We are grateful to know that God is and has been doing work in the people’s hearts who we will go to, Lord willing. The harvest is truly plentiful here in PNG, and yet the workers are few. Please continue to pray for people to have soft hearts and to prepare us in ways that we need to be prepared to go to those who are walking in darkness and in need of knowing Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Lord willing, we will, within the next few years, be able to share the Gospel with them and many others along the way. What a great reminder that our job is to trust and obey, keeping our eyes on Him. He is faithful!
Overall we are doing well. Our walks with the Lord are thriving, marriage is doing great, Brennan and Ava are enjoying homeschool, and Talia loves climbing, running, and playing with her brother and sister. We are thankful for ministry opportunities that God has given us in this season like preaching at church and building relationships with the people around us. It has been a good few months for our family to focus on the relationships between just the five of us. Now, as our potential teammates move here, please pray with us as we dive into teammate conversations and think through what people groups to survey.
PRAYER + PRAISE
PRAISE the Lord that He has given us good health and safety. (We can praise Him if this were not the case too, but we are grateful for this season).
PRAY that we will humbly walk with God, and that our ministry will be an overflow of our His love for us and our love for Him.
PRAISE for this season over the past few months to really pour into each other, our kids, and to be able to launch into team talks from a healthy spot.
PRAY for good communication as our potential team works through discussing a lot of topics. Also, please pray for a good base of friendship with one another / trust built on the Lord.
PRAY for God to reveal and give a united decision in what unreached people group He will send us to.
